Each spring visitors are welcomed to more than 250 of Virginia's most beautiful gardens, homes and historic landmarks during "America's Largest Open House." This 8-day statewide event provides visitors a unique opportunity to see unforgettable gardens at the peak of Virginia's springtime color, as well as beautiful houses sparkling with over 2,000 fabulous flower arrangements created by Garden Club of Virginia members.

The Market at Grelen kicks off their music series featuring local artists. After taking a trail walk, picking blueberries, perusing the plants and shopping in their market, stay a while longer and relax under the stars with dinner and music. May 6 (Sat.) 153rd Anniversary of the Battle of the Wilderness  
History buffs unite!  The anniversary commemoration will include living history re-enactors giving presentations on a myriad of activities that took place at Ellwood during the Battle of the Wilderness.

May 21 (Sat.) Gordonsville Fried Chicken Festival
Hours 11am-7pm
Gordonsville is famous for its fried chicken, which was served to passengers of trains stopping in town during the late 19th and early 20th centuries by local women carrying platters of the delicacy on their heads. Nationally-known at that time, Gordonsville's fried chicken earned the town the nickname of "chicken-leg center of the universe". To celebrate this special heritage, the Town of Gordonsville will hold its Famous Fried Chicken Festival on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gordonsville Fire Company Fair Grounds. The event will feature a fried chicken and pie contest, wine garden, and numerous craft and artisan vendors. Location: Gordonsville Fire Company Fairgrounds

Now for the creepy stuff. In 1997 A&E and the History Channel nominated The Exchange Hotel as 15th on the top 100 "Most Haunted Places in America." Anyone interested in the "paranormal" can come and listen to professional speakers discuss many of the unanswered questions we all share. Professional paranormal groups will present their latest gadgets and techniques that they use in performing investigations. The Exchange Hotel was a receiving hospital during the Civil War where over 700 bodies were once buried on the property.
